What do you enjoy most about running your business?

I really enjoy getting out there and speaking with people at the vintage fairs and festivals. There are so many diverse and interesting people to be found within the vintage scene, it spans all ages and cultures and never fails to inspire and intrigue.

What drew you to "vintage" over other hair &/or makeup styles?

I had an incredibly talented and enthusiastic period hair teacher back when I was training. She just knew absolutely everything there was to know about vintage styling which made it easy and fun to pick up myself. I was very much into 60s at the time and I think it was natural for me to take to the vintage styles. You can be so creative with it as well, as there are so many different looks for even one year in one decade!

Which is your favourite era/look and why?

I couldn't say just one! I think the 1920s is stunning and I love the challenge of finger waves, I also love the glamour of the 30s, and the playfulness of the 60s and 70s. It really is impossible to choose!

What is the most popular service(s) from those you offer?

Vintage bridal has become very popular over the last few years, and it's lovely to see some of these elegant styles being worn again. But I also get a lot of people asking how to do their victory rolls correctly, it's lovely to watch someone learning and understanding so they can do it themselves at home.

If you could style anyone past or present who would it be?

I had the absolute pleasure of realising that dream last year when I was booked to work on a documentary about Carnaby Street in the 60s. I got sent a call sheet and on the talent list was Twiggy. I've never been so nervous in all my life, I think she probably noticed but she was absolutely lovely.

How would you like to see your business grow & the Vintage Industry develop over the coming year(s)?

I have watched the vintage scene get bigger and bigger over the last 5 or so years. it's great spending hours in vintage shops finding treasures, or going to some of the now many vintage shows that are on offer around the country. I would like to see it continue to grow and see more and more people appreciating what the past has to offer.
