Nominee Interview: Betty Dear, Vintage Beauty & Grooming Award

I am a lover of all things vintage and a little bit different! I believe that there is a vintage hair style for everyone, no matter how simple or dramatic. I have been in the hairdressing trade for around 5 years and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I love how glamorous and special I can make a woman feel and seeing that wide smile once my work is completed is the best feeling!

What category are you nominated in?

I am nominated in the Vintage Beauty & Grooming Award category.

What made you enter the NVAs this year?

I wanted to enter this year in order to get my work noticed by a wider group of people from all over the country. I am from Ipswich in Suffolk which doesn't have a huge call for vintage styling like some bigger towns and cities do.

How did you first hear about the NVAs?

I first found out about the NVAs last year, but was too late to enter at the time and I had just set up my business so I was sadly too busy to attend!

Do you have a message for your potential voters?

I hope everyone loves my work, there has been blood, sweat and tears to get to where I am now but it has all been worth it! I love my job and love helping women bring out their inner pinup! It would mean the absolute world to me to win the award and get some recognition for my hard work!

Anything else you'd like to add?

I'd also like to wish everyone else entering the best of luck, as even though there is an element of competition involved, I believe, true vintage style, women should empower one another!
